Mercury

Upon retirement in 1995, my new-found leisure hours were to  be filled with my first auto restoration.  Being an engineer and having worked on several engines over the years, I felt this was a worthwhile project I could handle.

My vehicle search was limited to the local area and a car that was complete and within my capabilities.  I wanted a mid to late ‘30s,  but after a year of searching and seeing numerous basket cases, I settled on a Mercury Fordor Sedan  with considerable surface rust inside and out.  I trailered it home, maneuvered it into my garage and started my official project.

Coquille Car Show & Steak Feed – Rollin with the Rhody Cruisers

BBQby: Sonja Adie WOW!  WOW! … What a great time the Cruisers had again as we enjoyed the very mild blue skies. We had a congregation of 4 canopies connected together, sharing good stories and ongoing conversations with the cruisers as well as there families. There were 163 cars to ooooh and aaaah about, the always incredible steak dinner, and oh yes, Rhody Cruisers won the Car Club Award for the 19 cars on view for the public of which we caught a picture of with Bob Brown showing the award.  Other winners were Gary Cramer, Mert Beebe, Gloria Pierce, and Adies. It was mentioned many times that this was a very hard Peoples Choice selection this year.  We have to agree to that for sure.

This venue is always one of the very best that we go too.  It has always been on our list, and sure it will be on the list for a very long time.

PS:  The next show is Winchester “Kool Coastal Nights” in Winchester Bay on the Saturday, the 23rd.  Will get that work off to you soon.

Rollin’ to Newport with Rhody Cruisers

Bay City CruisersThe Bay City Cruisers held their Classic Car Show in Newport on Saturday July 19, 2014.

Sonja Adie Reports:
It was a hot one for the coast, but the ocean breezes helped us to keep our cools.   We a real good buffet breakfast to get the day started. Lots of cars again we have never seen – some from Arizona, Bakersfield, etc.  Bob Brown FINALLY got his first award on his Model A, Gary Cramer on his Avante, Denny Brandow – Best Corvette, Jim and Sonja – Best Stock, Bill Fills got Best GM and one other award, Sandy Coyne got an award on his truck.  I tell you, Bob Brown was absolute beaming and he has deserved it for a long time.

Mark’s ’68 Camaro RS

Owned and Built by: Mark McDaniel, Modesto CA.   Member: Rhody Cruisers

IMG_6288I got my first Camaro when I graduated high school, as a gift from Mom n’ Dad. It was a ’68 base model that my friend owned, but he decided to go into the army and I was eager to get it from him before he disappeared into the jungle. It was my first love with a V8, and I played with it every day. Unfortunately, I wrecked it one night in the rain. Continue reading

2 HotRodsBack in 1974 when I was finishing up my Corvair Sand Rail, my oldest son, Mark, was 10 years old, chasing wrenches, and could make a strong weld. 35 Years later, Mark is a genuine Hot Rodder, and builder of fine machines in his shop. Just Passin’ it to the next generation.
When we were reBuilding the Vega …
— I’m all like, “Hey, I’m 70 years old… let’s burn some Rubber!”
— He’s like… OK, but you gotta’ pull out all this stuff, and clean it.
